Chateauneuf primarily for the exceptional quality of its soil and microclimate, but also because Pope Clement V, originally from Bordeaux and the owner of Chateau Pape Clement, became the first Pope of nearby Avignon. His summer residence was in Chateauneuf du Pape, forging a strong bond with Chateau Pape Clement, a Grand Cru Classe de Graves. This bond is extremely precious to us: indeed, great wines always have a great history behind them.
